The Spotlight Shines And Dims

The Spotlight Shines and Dims

The spotlight shines on my dull memories
Of you and me; that feeling of aliveness
From our hearts warming, becoming one
And your smile
That smile did the most miraculous things
Signalling my heart to flutter and flap its golden wings
Before red faded way too fast, but far too slow
For my abstract mind to decipher what obfuscated the innocent
And everlasting pure, poisoning the blood that that flowed
So delicately through my veins.

As I watched us drift, further and further away from our desolate hopes
And dreams; dreams of us together in endless
Absolute felicity, and then I faded
So far away from us that me was lost
But you were there; empty and malevolent
A desperate Lucifer; that scarred me, burnt me
Tied my soul with pain too severe
To even counter the golden days of happiness and love
But with this pain, closer than love
The spotlight dims.
